National Chambal Sanctuary

Once famous for its legendary dacoits, the Chambal ravines and the river that runs through it are now home to some of the most incredible wildlife India has to offer. Spread across the three states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the National Chambal Sanctuary gives visitors the best chance of sighting the gharial (fish-eating) crocodile or the Indian skimmer. The areas around the sanctuary can also be explored for sarus crane and blackbuck sighting opportunities.

Proposed itinerary

(5d, 4n)

Day 1:
Depart from Delhi early morning by road for Agra. Reach Agra and enjoy boat safari at Dholpur. Overnight stay at Agra hotel.

Day 2:
Check out from Agra and leave for Chambal. After reaching Chambal, check in at lodge and then blackbuck safari. After safari, return to lodge. Have lunch and then afternoon boat ride. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 3:
Leave early morning for Sarus crane sighting. Return to lodge by early afternoon and then enjoy Chambal river safari in the afternoon.

Day 4:
Leave early morning for Agra for one final boat safari at Dholpur. Overnight stay at hotel in Agra.

Day 5:
Leave for Delhi in the morning.

Advisory

This safari can be booked at a short notice, with just a few months of advance booking. This tour should be combined with a birding trip to Bharatpur.
